Develop your expertise in sports coaching as well as sports science areas that support effective coaching such as performance analysis, biomechanics and psychology. Learn from lecturers who are sports coaches, working with partners such as GB Rowing, British Equestrian, GB Paralympic squads, and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

You’ll develop advanced coaching skills across a range of sporting areas, with the ability to pursue one sporting area or coach across multi-sports in professional performance or community contexts. If you want to graduate as a qualified coach, you can complete National Governing Body UK Coaching Certificates (levels 1, 2 and 3) alongside your studies.

Alongside work placements with organisations such as Cheltenham Town Football Club, Gloucester Rugby and NGB British Rowing, you’ll have opportunities to work with university sports teams and professional partners. These include our All Golds rugby league team, our Rugby Sevens BUCs champions, our competitive women’s futsal team, England Netball and England Hockey.

You'll learn in our sports facilities at our Oxstalls campus with sports coaching students from all years. On-campus camaraderie is strong. Facilities include a modern sports hall, all-weather pitch, astroturf, mirrored sports studio, gym, physiology, biomechanics and bio-assessment labs, motion performance equipment, strength and conditioning and therapy suites and an environmental chamber.
