The Government are investing in the construction of a suite of new nuclear power stations which could deliver up to 40% of the UK’s electricity. There is a significant demand for graduates to work in this rapidly growing sector.
The objective of this programme is that of developing professional engineers who are both academically prepared and practically trained to satisfy the requirements of local industry with a special focus on power generation and renewable energy systems.
The degree in Engineering Renewable Energy aims to train human resources with the right skills to the wide range of needs of emerging industries in the country (and the region) in the renewable energy sector, promoting their competitiveness and sustainability. Its main objectives are: To train senior technicians in the field of renewable energy, with expertise in the application and integration of technologies associated with renewable energy, with a view to use, rationalization and energy production (thermal and / or electrical) | Contributing to development of renewable energy in Portugal and meet the need of senior an area in need of qualified training offer, particularly in the area where you insert this higher education institution | Contributing to the reduction of negative environmental effects from the use of fossil fuels, the senior technicians who know how to harmonize the form most appropriate and environmentally sustainable energy solutions for each situation | Generate business opportunities in the energy market liberalization environment.
The programme provides students with overall knowledge relating to the field of energy, oil and gas management. It is designed to prepare future junior executives and business managers for the emerging oil & gas industry in Cyprus to be fully trained and competent in all aspects of management, economics, law and technology so that they may function effectively in this emerging industry.
The general objectives of the programme are to prepare students to become successful professional engineers in the demanding field of oil and gas engineering; provide students the necessary knowledge and technical skills to excel in the oil and gas industry either as operational leaders in the field, technical experts, or researchers; provide students with the fundamental principles of science and engineering in order to cope successfully with the technological challenges of the oil and gas industry; cultivate analytical skills, problem solving tactics, and critical thinking; promote engineering ethics, job responsibility, and moral practices; develop skills for effective communication with co-workers, managers, and the public on topics related to technical concepts, risks, and recommendations.
The mission of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department is to educate students for the practice of their profession in drilling, production and reservoir engineering topics for underground fluid resources in oil and gas and, for the advancement of knowledge and technology that form the basis of petroleum engineering as well as for finding solutions to the national, international, societal and environmental issues related to petroleum industry.
