Introduction
The major in Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies (GSWS) Program offers students exciting opportunities to explore various topics related to gender, sexuality, and women. Students have a great deal of flexibility in designing a major that addresses their interests. Students can choose from core courses within the program and courses cross-listed with many departments in SAS and other schools. GSWS is also a popular double major, as topics in the field are relevant to all major disciplines.
Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary major and minor within the Program in Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at Penn that offers opportunities to study the role of gender and sexuality in human societies. There are four (optional) concentrations within the major: Feminist Studies, Global Gender and Sexuality Studies, Health and Disability, and LGBTQ Studies. Students can also design their own concentration in consultation with the Undergraduate Chair.
