The Multimedia Systems Engineering (MSE) specialization is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering's portfolio of specializations, Alexandria, starting with the 2017-2018 academic year. The mission of the Multimedia Systems Engineering Bachelor's Degree Program has clear and achievable objectives, similar to the Automation and Applied Informatics study program, as well as specializations of the same field.
In particular, the program's mission is to specialize in technical higher education graduates in the field of advanced graphics, multimedia, and virtual reality technologies. Graphics and multimedia are leading and open areas in the evolution of computer science, requiring special scientific training, and virtual reality is one of the most challenging areas of research, requiring both technical pieces of knowledge specific to system engineering and interdisciplinary knowledge.
The main objective of Multimedia Systems Engineering is to train specialists in the field of automation and computer science, able to carry out scientific and didactic research activities in university education, as well as productive activities in various fields of industry.
Admission
Admission shall be on the basis of the competition of files. The admission to the Multimedia Systems Engineering Bachelor's Degree Program consists of the baccalaureate average exam - 100% weight. Selection criteria:
The grade obtained at the written test within the baccalaureate exam in the discipline-specific to the profile (Test II);
The grade obtained at the written test within the baccalaureate exam in the Romanian Language and Literature discipline.
Skills acquired by students through the study program
Use of knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, measurement technique, technical graphics, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering in systems engineering.
Operating with fundamental concepts in computer science, information, and communication technology.
Application of the principles of signal processing in encoding/decoding/compressing multimedia information, and non-linear editing in audio-video, radio and television production.
Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting multimedia applications in different fields (software, e-commerce, biomedicine, games, digital media, etc.).
Design and management of computer networks, communication systems, and multimedia systems under conditions of assurance of the quality and security of information systems.
Use of knowledge on project management, standards, laws, and quality management in the development, promotion, and maintenance of multimedia applications.
