Introduction
The Price Faculty of Engineering is Western Canada’s oldest engineering school. With a legacy of innovation, collaboration, and educational excellence, the Faculty is home to five engineering departments and over 20 programs and options for students. Students in our Faculty have access to resources that help them succeed in all aspects of life. All our programs have focus areas, options, specializations, and streams that students can enter into to truly customize their learning experience.
The Bachelor of Science in Engineering is a four-year program consisting of one year of common foundation studies, followed by three years of studies in one of five areas of focus: Biosystems, Civil, Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Program Options
Biosystems Engineering | Biosystems engineering emphasizes the application of engineering principles to plants, animals, humans and microorganisms. Biosystems engineers help to create new technologies for the well-being of humans and animals, and the preservation and enhancement of natural resources and the environment. |
Civil Engineering | Civil engineers plan, design, supervise construction, manage and maintain facilities that are familiar to most people. They are involved with infrastructure and environmental projects such as bridges, dams, highways, water, and wastewater treatment plants, airports, and flood control systems. |
Computer Engineering | Computer technology is the essential core of modern products, services, and communication, with application far beyond simple laptop or desktop computer systems. Computer engineers are the professionals who design and deploy these systems and solutions. |
Electrical Engineering | Electrical engineers innovation and imagination underpins the development of clean transportation and the communication systems that we use every day – technology that connects the world. |
Mechanical Engineering | The work of mechanical engineers can be seen in everything that makes human life more comfortable. This includes designing and building transportation vehicles such as aircraft and cars, air conditioning and ventilation for human comfort, and saving lives by contributing significantly to improving medical technology. |

Program Outcome
Learning beyond the classroom
Every student in Engineering has opportunities to apply the theoretical foundations of classroom learning to real-world design problems throughout the program.
In the Co-operative Education and Industrial Internship Program (Co-op/IIP), you can complement your study with paid work experience. Competition, representational, and special-interest societies allow you to connect with fellow students with shared interests. And student exchange programs let you complete part of your degree at one of several partner universities around the world.
