A Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies equips students with a broad understanding of processes and practices necessary to tackle challenges that the global society face in regards to environmental issues.
The United States of America is a large country in North America, often referred to as the "USA", the "US", the "United States", "America", or simply "the States". American colleges are funded by "tuition" charged to the student, which is often quite expensive, very commonly reaching into the tens of thousands of dollars per year.

As one of the oldest in the nation, the undergraduate Environmental Science program offers a modern introduction to the environmental sciences. The challenging background enables students to deal with important environmental issues of the 21st century. Rather than a traditional biological approach to the environment, the program emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of the field by drawing from biology, chemistry, statistics, earth sciences, economics, law, and the humanities. Environmental problems are approached from a holistic perspective. Ferrum’s Environmental Science program offers students great flexibility in developing their own interests.
The curriculum incorporates a variety of topics to prepare students for opportunities in the field of Environmental Science and includes courses such as:...

How We're Different
Aquinas is one of only two liberal arts colleges in Michigan to offer a geography major.
Faculty have expertise in the triad of geography: physical geography, human geography, and geographic techniques.
Students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through faculty-directed research projects(e.g, Mohler-Thompson Summer Program) and internships in the local community (e.g, City of Grand Rapids, Grand Valley Metro Council, Michigan Department of Transportation, and others).
Aquinas geography graduates are employed in a wide variety of jobs including: urban planner, dam inspector, property tax assessor, environmental educator, GIS director, and college professor.
A strong, broad curriculum in geography prepares students well to continue on to graduate school. Since 2006, 100% of graduates applying to geography graduate programs have been awarded assistantships or fellowships.
In the past 10 years, geography majors have gone on to study at graduate schools across the U.S. and the world including: Syracuse University, University of Oregon, University of Georgia, Rutgers University, Cal Poly, University of Wyoming, Swansea University(Wales), University of Texas at Austin, and numerous regional institutions.
Graduate David Baylis ’06 was a Fulbright-Hays Fellow in Turkey for 2014.
Both cartography (map making) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) are full semester classes, giving students a strong background in geographic techniques.
We use the same GIS software as local, state, and federal agencies, so that students have the skills for entry-level employment in the field of GIS.
Most geography programs are found in large universities where faculty work mostly with graduate students,...

Environmental science is fundamental to environmental protection and restoration. Coursework in the environmental science major at Wells guides students in examination and analysis of the earth and the human-environment interaction, and develops the technical and scientific skills necessary to build a career related to the environment. Underpinning the major is the belief that environmental science and technology provide important tools that help us become better stewards of the earth, its ecosystems, and its natural resources.
Not only do students receive thorough, specialized instruction and personalized assistance, they often take their studies outside of the classroom. Rather than isolating experiences within a building, students examine animals, trees, lakes, rivers and other aspects of their physical location. Environmental classrooms are intimately linked to the spectacular natural setting that surrounds the Wells campus. ...

From our perch on the hill, Bloomsburg University's Department of Environmental, Geographical, and Geological Sciences (EGGS) looks out over the town of Bloomsburg and the beautiful Appalachian Valley and Ridge. We take advantage of our location as much as possible by getting students outside to use the local area as our classroom.
The EGGS curriculum builds on the department’s strengths in planning, environmental and economic geography, traditional hard rock geology, and environmental geoscience. Students in our all-undergraduate department also have the opportunity to prepare for careers or graduate school by getting experience outside the classroom with ongoing research projects, volunteering in the community, and our established geography and planning internship program....

Bachelor Degree in Environmental Physical Science
Environmental Physical Science deals with the identification, study, and treatment of a variety of environmental problems including ground and surface water quality and management, waste treatment, land-use planning, soil testing, contaminant chemistry and monitoring, hazardous waste disposal, land reclamation, and energy management and production. The Science Department at Black Hills State University is a small, personable department committed to quality undergraduate programs in science, with a special emphasis on involving students in research and internship experiences. Although the Environmental Physical Science major is rigorous, the rewards are great. This is a broad and varied science, requiring a background in a number of different science areas. In addition to a variety of geology classes, students will complete additional coursework in chemistry, mathematics, and physics. Students with a strong background in these physical sciences are thus able to successfully compete for the internship, graduate school, and employment opportunities. More advanced study at the graduate level opens up even more opportunities, including advanced research in national laboratories, environmental law, and teaching/research at the college or university level. This major also takes advantage of Black Hills State University's geographical location in an area of active renewable and nonrenewable resource production. The environmental concern surrounding this type of activity creates a wide variety of opportunities for internships and undergraduate research projects....
