To meet the needs of the students and society, this scheme has been developed to equip students with specialised skills in product design and development, marketing, process control and optimization in complex organizations and businesses, in a global context. An integrative and problem-based teaching and learning approach is adopted in the scheme, helping students to develop their engineering knowledge as well as their communication, team-playing, management and self-learning skills.

It’s about exploring and explaining ideas, about finding the right words at the right time, and about being there when a business deal’s on the line and you’re the only person who can tell both sides what they’re saying to each other.

Founded in 1990, the Humanities Programme at HKBU is unique, being the first undergraduate programme in Hong Kong dedicated to providing a broad liberal arts education. Apart from training students to think critically, write logically and speak confidently, the Humanities Programme also nurtures students' ability to solve problems, to sympathize with humanity and to appreciate life, qualities which are indeed essential for a successful career as well as a full meaningful life.

The programme provides an excellent opportunity to study major world religions, philosophical traditions, and ethical schools of thought in a systematic and critical way. Students will develop a capability in correlating religious ideas and values, as well as philosophical and ethical thought with both the personal quest for meaning in life and the reflection of contemporary socio-cultural issues, such as life and death, gender equality and social justice.

The Programme offers students a variety of study routes in the form of "concentrations" within their Major, and "Minors" outside their Major, to meet individual interests, goals and needs flexibly.

The Creative and Professional Writing Programme at HKBU is the first UGC-funded undergraduate programme in Hong Kong tertiary institutions dedicated to creative and professional writing learning in both the Chinese and English languages. The Programme has developed from a very popular concentration of the Humanities Programme. Apart from cultivating students to write in the creative and professional fields, the Creative and Professional Writing Programme also aims to nurture students' academic potential, cultural dimensions and sense of creativity, and to enhance their professional value.

The Programme is committed to providing students with thorough training in Chinese language, literature, and culture. The acquisition of knowledge and skills of basic research and training in critical thinking enable students to achieve their academic goals, personal growth, and their commitment to lifelong learning and preparation for future careers. This serves the University’s common goal of “Whole Person Education”, and empowers students to contribute to both the local and international communities.

This programme aims to nurture a new generation of professionals for the rapidly developing hotel sector in Hong Kong as well as in the region. In order to equip students with strong theory and practical knowledge and skills in hotel operations management, a broad range of hotel topics including food & beverage management, front office and housekeeping management, hotel revenue management, and staff development and training will be covered in the programme.

The rapid development of the sports and recreation industry in Hong Kong has created a strong demand for related professionals. This programme aims to provide students with a rigorous and intellectual programme of study who wish to pursue or further advance their careers in the cognate areas of sports coaching, sports therapy, or recreation management. Through high-quality education and training which emphasise both theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as professional skills, and working experience from Work-Integrated Learning, graduates will be professionally and/or clinically competent in their disciplines. Students will specialise in one of the three specialisations: (1) sports coaching, (2) sports therapy, and (3) recreation management, in order to develop their professional competence.

This programme aims to enable students to become "graduates of choice" for a rapidly changing global fashion design industry, and to equip graduates to enter the world of work at a professional level, who can intelligently and skilfully engage with emerging issues and opportunities, particularly in Mainland China. It also aims to develop students' creative and practical abilities, and provides a sound grounding in the theoretical and technical aspects of the subject, enabling them to become masters in making, driven by informed conceptualisation.

The four-year Bachelor of Arts in Conservation Degree [the BA(Conservation)] was launched in 2012 to meet the growing professional need for graduates with an understanding in heritage conservation. The programme provides students with the competency to pursue careers in numerous related fields, as well as a solid foundation for continuing their studies in specialised postgraduate programmes in conservation and complementary academic disciplines. The analytical skills developed in the programme and the multidisciplinary nature of the curriculum prepare students for a successful career in many professional fields, whether in the civil service, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) or private practice.
