Introduction
Bachelor of Civil Engineering
Presentation and Professional Profile
It is the branch of engineering that designs, manages and executes works such as houses, buildings, bridges, viaducts, roads, dams, canals, ports, etc. The civil engineer designs, manages and monitors all stages of a construction or renovation. Its performance includes the analysis of the characteristics of the soil, the study of the insolation and ventilation of the site and the definition of the types of foundation. Based on this data, he develops the project, specifying the building's electrical, hydraulic and sanitation installations and defining the material that will be used. At the construction site, he leads the work teams, supervising deadlines, costs, quality and safety standards. It is up to him to ensure the stability and safety of the building.
Labor market
The market for engineers is booming across the country, and the expectation is to improve even more in the coming years, as we will have two major events in Brazil: the World Cup, in 2014, and the Olympic Games, in 2016. civil is the sector that most absorbs this bachelor. The heating of the real estate market in recent years continues to influence the great demand for this engineer. Architecture offices also usually hire the professional to act in project planning.
Main Theoretical and Practical Subjects
Mathematics, physics, statistics, drawing and logic are the strong points of the curriculum. So get ready to exercise your calculus skills. There are laboratory activities and subjects in the areas of administration and economics that teach techniques and methods of managing projects and teams. In the final three years, you study disciplines more related to the chosen areas of specialization: structures, civil construction, hydraulics and sanitation, transport or geotechnics. To obtain the diploma, the internship is mandatory, as well as a course conclusion work.
Supervised internship
The internship is a moment of fundamental importance in the professional training process. We, at UNIESP, carry out training that enables students to experience what is being learned at the Faculty, with the function of integrating the numerous disciplines that make up the academic curriculum, giving them structural unity and testing their level of consistency and degree of integration .
