Introduction
Program Description: Learn all about ancient Egypt's history and culture, from the time of the Pharaohs to the Arab conquest — a time span of some 4,600 years. AUC’s Bachelor of Arts in Egyptology covers all aspects of ancient Egyptian civilization, from language and religion to art, architecture, social structure, and heritage management. The program also provides a first-hand experience of ancient monuments and sites.
Expert Faculty
Salima Ikram (YAB ’86) (Ph.D., University of Cambridge)
Salima Ikram is a distinguished University professor of Egyptology at The American University in Cairo and has worked as an archaeologist in Turkey, Sudan, Greece, and the United States. She previously directed the Animal Mummy Project, the North Kharga Darb Ain Amur Survey, Valley of the Kings KV10/KV63 Mission and co-directed the Predynastic Gallery project and the North Kharga Oasis Survey. She has also participated in several other archaeological missions throughout Egypt. She has lectured on her work internationally and publishes in both scholarly and popular journals. She also has an active media presence.

The program’s course offerings include History of Ancient Egypt, Hieroglyphics, Culture, and Society of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Egyptian Religion and Ethics, along with fieldwork courses.
