Introduction
Study the lived experiences of women, both past and present, and their active involvement in the world. Analyze how the cultural and social construction of gender has impacted women throughout history.
Why Study Women's Studies at Albion?
As a women’s studies minor, you’ll focus on women’s active involvement in the shaping of our world. You’ll study women’s roles as creators and scholars by taking courses in art history, English literature, French, history, science, and theatre, enabling you to design a course of study that complements your major. You’ll trace the impact of women and gender-centered scholarship on the traditional disciplines. And you’ll develop the critical thinking, analytical, reading, and writing skills that you need to succeed in any profession.

Program Outcome
What Will You Learn as a Women's Studies Minor?
You’ll explore the historic, social, political, and cultural context of the feminist movement in the United States (and its intersections with sexism and racism, classism, homophobia, and other systems of power and oppression.)
You’ll study women’s contributions to visual art, literature, theatre, and science. You’ll develop a critical understanding of how gender impacted the production and reception of work produced by women.
You’ll use the strong critical framework you develop to analyze current events and contemporary attitudes to gender and sexuality.
