The Bachelor of Science (BSc) is a three-year undergraduate degree which enables each student to develop his or her own interests in a science subject (science major) and related subjects. Students have the flexibility to combine their major subject with other science subjects, as well as subjects from other disciplines across the University.

This is one of the Faculty's longest-standing study programs and one that has evolved continuously over the decades as scientific knowledge is accumulated and environment-friendly technologies are gaining ground. The main aims of the program are: to train professionals who will be able to plan, supervise and organize industrial-scale production processes; to manage tasks related to the preparation, distribution, and storage of products; to undertake specialized managerial core tasks in the horticultural domain; and to set up independent horticultural farms and operate them efficiently.

With a Bachelor of Plant Protection and Quarantine Assessment, students diagnose the pest risks for crop plants, identify the pests (Plant pathogens, insect-pests, mite pests, weed), learn about plant protection technologies such as integrated pest management, agro-technologies, biological control, chemical control and other, and gain a knowledge regarding growing healthy crop plants.

Graduates of this course will have first-hand knowledge of practice in the Netherlands, one of the leading EU countries in horticulture and plant breeding.

Horticulture is the science and art of growing and maintaining plants for food, enjoyment and improvement of the human environment. Students of Environmental Horticulture Science in the Plant Sciences & Plant Pathology department at Montana State take fundamental courses in biology, chemistry and math prior to taking specialized courses such as plant physiology, plant pathology and plant reproduction.
