Biology: Molecular & Biochemistry is one of two Biology tracks. This track often leads students to careers in the health sciences (medicine, dentistry, physician assistant, physical therapy), microbiology, and immunology. Our comprehensive active-learning approach prepares students to pursue a variety of postgraduate studies. Some students enter careers immediately after graduation as teachers, laboratory technicians, and pharmaceutical sales representatives. Others go on to post-graduate studies in medical, dental, physician assistant, physical therapy, and pharmacy.

This concentration is intended for students that plan to pursue a career in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. The overall educational objective of the biological sciences undergraduate program is to provide students with a conceptual foundation in biology and a skills base necessary to build successful careers in industry or business or to succeed in graduate school or professional school.

Our Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology degree prepares students who wish to pursue advanced degrees in biotechnology, molecular biology, or medicine. The major consists of 24 semester hours of chemistry and 23 semester hours of biology coursework.

Chemical physics is an interdisciplinary major which combines chemistry’s study of the composition of matter with physics’ study of the properties of matter and energy. Courses are drawn from the departments of chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
