The B.A. program in linguistics in our department is designed to give students a solid background in the core areas of phonology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, as well as in more applied areas such as psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics. Studies in the department take place in English, but this is not the only language being studied; the approach in the department is that of general linguistics which aims to study human language and the human linguistic capacity.

The study of literature allows us to gain deep knowledge of other cultures and to develop analytical skills useful in a range of careers and professions.

Due to the University’s unique location in the Italian-speaking world, the Italian Studies major at Franklin is designed, first and foremost, to cultivate students’ abilities to communicate, interact and critically engage with the local culture. To do this, students seeking a bachelor's degree in Italian Studies complete a three-year sequence of language courses, the principal goal of which is the acquisition of advanced competency in Italian speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

This Degree program provides solid training in two foreign languages chosen among the sixteen languages offered. The linguistic skills vary (from B1 to C1) according to the chosen language and are completed by additional skills depending on the chosen curriculum.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Studies and Digital Communication and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (English Language) This program aims to prepare students to become competent teachers of English for primary/secondary schools, or other English language-related professionals. The aim of the Hungarian BA program is to provide students with a professional level of Hungarian in its language and literature. The program offers language training based on the experience of the Hungarian as a Foreign Language Department of Eötvös Loránd University, and also emphasizes the importance of literary and cultural studies. Eastern and Eastern-Central Europe are in the position to become central actors in cultural and economic connections between Asia and Europe.

The Bachelor in Lithuanian Studies programme allows you to learn the Lithuanian language, and to get acquainted with the linguistic situation, literature, culture, history, and social and political life of Lithuania.
