Introduction
Urged by the growing desire to maintain balance, preserve the natural environment, and slow down climate change, mankind is turning towards nature. As a result, global energy is changing.
Renewable energy includes solar, wind, water, and other renewable energy sources. Currently, it is probably the most progressive and rapidly expanding field of technology and energy in the world. It is understandable – the future of all of us depends on this area.
While studying bachelor’s in Renewable Energy Engineering at KTU, you will expand your engineering knowledge and skills, will master the knowledge on the use of environmentally friendly types of energy, on the application of solar, wind, hydro, biofuel heat pump technologies in the fields of electricity and heat. Your knowledge will be supplemented with practical workshops at state-of-the-art laboratories equipped by Siemens, Schneider Electric, Omicron, ABB, and DE Lorenzo.
- Next to the basic subjects of the study programme, you will be able to choose two more specialised module groups additionally;
- The students and lecturers work as partners, the innovative attitude of students to the studied objects is highly valued;
- Hands-on experience using contemporary lab equipment acquire practical skills which are highly regarded among employers.

The possibility to choose the specifics of studies
The students are provided with an opportunity to choose two more specialized groups of study modules (alternatives) in addition to the basic modules of the study program, i.e. Control Systems of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Sources.
Great knowledge in the field of renewable energy engineering
During the studies, the students deepen their knowledge of the use of environment-friendly energy types, application of solar, wind, hydro-, and biofuel power plants, fuel elements, heat pump technologies in the fields of electricity and heat. When performing the practical tasks, they learn how to design, develop, and use electricity and heat sources, energy devices and apply information technologies.

- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative principles of operating modes, organization, and management of energy systems;
- Analysis of new and sustainable principles of electricity generation, transmission and distribution technologies and assessment of the possibilities of their use;
- Identification and assessment of energy problems, provision of solutions;
- Design and management of energy systems, efficient use of renewable energy sources for generation, transmission, and use of electricity and thermal energy.

- Able to plan and manage energy economy of distribution networks and companies, design and operate electricity and thermal energy supply systems and solve financial tasks;
- Able to make engineering decisions assessed in terms of ethics, social norms, environmental protection, and safety;

Electrical engineering specialist
- Design of electrical installation and circuits, preparation of drawings according to the provided list of technical specifications;
- Preparation of detailed estimations of the number of materials, costs, and labor costs required for production and installation according to the provided list of technical specifications;
- Technical control of production, installation, use, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, planning of installation methods, an inspection of safety and control of the installed equipment, equipment’s initial start-up.
Electronic engineering specialist
- Design of electronic devices and parts thereof, circuits, semiconductor devices and systems, and provision of consultations on these issues;
- Establishment of production or installation methods, materials and quality standards, management of production or installation of electronic products and systems;
- Establishment of control standards and procedures ensuring efficient operation and safety of electronic systems, engines, and equipment.
Electrical engineering specialist
- Design of electrical installation and circuits, preparation of drawings according to the provided list of technical specifications;
- Preparation of detailed estimations of the number of materials, costs, and labor costs required for production and installation according to the provided list of technical specifications;
- Technical control of production, installation, use, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, planning of installation methods, an inspection of safety and control of the installed equipment, equipment’s initial start-up.
Engineering specialist
- Design of superstructures and propulsion systems, mechanical devices and equipment for discharge, control, and disposal of energy;
- Establishment of control standards and procedures, ensuring efficient operation and safety of machinery, mechanisms, tools, engines, industrial devices, equipment, or systems;
- Insurance of equipment's compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
Electrical mechanic and electrician
- Mounting, regulation, and repair of parts of various electrical equipment;
- Installation, testing, commissioning, technical maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, installation, and control systems;
- Design, installation, technical maintenance, and repair of electrical and hydraulic lifts for the transport of persons and goods, escalators, moving walks, and other lifting equipment.
Power plant operator
- Management and control of electricity generation systems and equipment;
- Timely registration of diagrams, readings of meters, troubleshooting, repair of defects;
- Registration of power plant’s data and preparation of reports, assessment of equipment’s operation.
