Starting with 1991, the year of the declaration of Independence, the Republic of Moldova started on the difficult path of political, economic and social transformations. In the conditions of the market economy, which were imposed as an objective legitimacy of history, and after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, our country was established as a state starting, practically, from a new beginning.
In this situation, the development of the national economy had become the primary condition for strengthening the country's statehood and security. In the current realities, it has become necessary to open a higher education institution, which will meet the requirements of the transition economy and, first of all, to train specialists for the appropriate qualification to the new requirements of the economic environment.
On September 25, 1991, according to Decision no. 537 of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the Academia de Studii Economice din Moldova was established. Thus, the aspiration of many generations in the field of science and economic education materialized, who wanted an independent higher education institution. It has also become possible to integrate higher economic education with the scientific research process, as well as the vertical integration of different levels of education - pre-university, university and postgraduate.
