Introduction
Accounting is the language of business. An accounting degree opens the door to careers in business, helps students understand how the accounting information system operates and how to analyze and interpret financial information for business decision-making.
Accounting majors have a variety of career opportunities including practice in public accounting, private industry, government, and not for profit organizations. Positions in accounting include staff accountants, internal audit, external audit, tax preparation and tax planning, cost accountants, business analysts and accounting information systems analysts, all of whom promote efficiency and effectiveness of organizations in these areas of practice.
