Introduction
The Horticulture department carries out a 4-year program to educate students to become agricultural engineer on the open field, protected cultivation, breeding and post-harvest handling of horticultural crops. The program is composed of two years of basic compulsory courses on science and agriculture. The third and fourth years are devoted mainly to horticulture and related topics. There are theoretical and practical (field and laboratory) courses. However, few electives and term-works prepared to focus on products/topics they are interested in.
Agricultural Engineers are working in the public and private sectors. Graduates who have deserved the title of Agricultural Engineer; can work in different institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade as a civil servant, provided being successful in the required exams. Hence they will also have the rights to work in the private sectors such as fertilizer, chemical, seed seedling, seedling production, storage, export-import, packaging and marketing companies. They also have the opportunity to work on certification issues. They can also work as agricultural consulter and food controller or inspector in bakery ovens etc.
