嘉应学院is a full-time public undergraduate university under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province; it is located in a famous historical and cultural city in China, the hometown of Marshal Ye Jianying, a well-known old revolutionary area, and the whole area belongs to the former Central Soviet Area. Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is known as "Hometown, Hometown of Football" The school recruits students from 15 provinces (cities, districts), with more than 28,000 regular full-time students and nearly 11,000 adult students. The disciplines cover 11 disciplines including literature, science, engineering, law, and medicine. It has a long history and obvious characteristics. The predecessor of the school was the Meixian County Women’s Normal School founded in 1913. It has 108 years of school history. It has experienced 65 years of secondary school education and 22 years of tertiary education. It was upgraded to an undergraduate school in 2000 and a new school in 2004. Increased to the Guangdong Province bachelor degree-granting unit; passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2006 with a "good" level; passed the review and evaluation of the undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education in 2017; in 2018, it was listed as the "reinforcement force of higher education in Guangdong Province" "Upgrading plans to build universities; in 2021, the school-running system will be adjusted from "provincial and municipal joint construction" to "provincial undergraduate colleges and universities"; a doctoral workstation in Guangdong Province has been established and a post-doctoral innovation practice base has been established with Sun Yat-sen University.
