Introduction
The Bachelor in Tourism & Hotel Management is a 3-year post-high school program for those who have a passion for the Tourism Industry, and are seeking new opportunities and self-realization through such activities as international exchanges and hands-on experience.
In Lithuania, this study program has been delivered for more than 20 years. The program was designed to train qualified, competitive, creative, responsible, innovation-receptive tourism and hotel managers, who have acquired higher education and are able to work in the constantly changing Lithuanian and international markets.
The Bachelor in Tourism & Hotel Management has a strong international dimension: offers you possibilities to select Double Degree Studies with LAB University of Applied Sciences (Finland), to gain knowledge about multicultural tourism business environment while participating in Erasmus+ mobility activities and working with in-coming teachers or joining in various international projects. These practice-oriented studies include educational visits to hotels and other enterprises of tourism business, tourists’ attractions, etc.

- Hotel Management – knowledge and skills in the field of Hotel Management, Hospitality Marketing, Operations of Catering Services, and Yield Management.
- Wellness and SPA Management – knowledge and skills in the field of Wellness and SPA Services, Basics of Wellness and Resort Science, Management of Accommodation Provision Processes in the SPA Sector, Management of Wellness Services Provision Processes in the SPA Sector, Organization of Catering Services in the SPA Sector.

Assessment
To achieve learning outcomes, the academic staff use a variety of methods, which are preconditioned by the aims of the modules and their specificity.
Study modules can consist of various combinations of lectures, practical tasks, workshops, seminars, students’ independent work, scientific research assignments, projects, and other forms of study activities.
Studies of each module are completed by examination or other forms of final assessment designed to evaluate a student’s knowledge and skills gained in the module.

- The learning process includes theoretical lectures, practical workshops, solutions to real business problems, case analysis, group and personal projects, and/or scientific papers.
- Studies are organized by integrating different subjects into modules to help students gain interdisciplinary skills.
- Professional internships induce students to employ learned skills and knowledge right away, provide them with valuable experience and get them fully prepared to start their careers.
- In order to achieve the learning outcomes, educational visits to hotels and other tourism enterprises, tourist attractions, exhibitions, seminars, conferences, and forums are included in the study process.
Abroad
Intercultural experience
- Gain invaluable experience in learning new cultures when working in an international environment.
- Use the possibility to spend a semester or two in foreign partner institutions. These studies abroad are fully recognized.
- Take the opportunity to obtain a double degree with LAB University of Applied Sciences (Finland). It will take you 3,5 years to receive a Professional Bachelor’s degree in Business Management both from Kaunas University of Applied Sciences and the school abroad.
International projects
Participate in various international projects such as IP Lean Canvas, IP Welltour (EcoTekNord), Berlin ITB, Mac2Kaunas, Mac2Warsaw (Businet), etc. under Erasmus+, Nordplus, and other programs.

Studies based on practice
At Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, theory and practice are closely interlinked. Practical activities and professional internships make up 32.2 percent of the total study time. Students have to complete a professional internship in a business enterprise during the second, fourth, and sixth semesters.
Students find internship placements themselves or choose from the list proposed by the Department. In order to develop the competencies of employability, learners are encouraged to address enterprises and arrange placements themselves in coordination with the Department regarding the company’s suitability for the development of practical skills.
Employment possibilities
The graduates of the Tourism and Hotel Management study program work and develop their professional careers in the Lithuanian and foreign enterprises operating in the tourism and hospitality sector, hotels, tourism agencies, tourist information centers, airlines, and other tourism-related businesses.
Potential Careers
- Hotels and other accommodation providers; you are responsible for managing employees and for planning, marketing, coordinating, and administering hotels (or other accommodation establishments) services such as catering and accommodation facilities;
- Travel companies; you are responsible for organizing and preparing holiday tours, observing trends in the popularity of destinations and packages, and adjusting company plans accordingly
- Tourism information centers; you provide visitors with information about transport, tourist attractions, local services and activities, accommodation, places to visit, and events;
- Wellness and SPA centers: you are planning and organizing the activities of health and spa service providers; you are developing and selling competitive products that meet the concept of health as a way of life;
- Or start your own business!
Access to further study
The graduates are entitled to a credit transfer system for entering level one university study programs; they can choose Master's programs. The continuation of studies is possible in the study programs in the fields of tourism and leisure, management, and business both in Lithuanian and/or foreign universities.
