Introduction
The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Business Information Technology trains you to become a specialist in digital solutions and digitalization in businesses. The program gives you a new perspective on how information technology can be integrated with business processes, and how digitalization can improve business productivity.
Combination of business and technology
The program combines theory and practice and equips you for a range of roles in the Business Information Technology field. The program prepares students for digital business expert roles. You will also gain skills and knowledge to continue your studies further toward a master’s degree.

Personalized study paths
In the first year, you will develop a good foundation in different areas of business information technology and start building your professional profile by doing core competence studies. From the second year onwards, you have the opportunity to start personalizing your study path by doing complementary competence studies. We offer you a choice of modules in Web application production, Software procurement, and deployment, Real-Life IT Projects, and Digitalization in Businesses.
We also offer modules combining expertise from various different fields. You can also complete part of your studies in multidisciplinary development projects and learning environments (e.g. in student cooperatives). Toward the end of the program, you will gain practical experience by working in the organization of your choice.
The contents of the Degree Programme in Business Information Technology are designed in cooperation with businesses and with an eye on future competence needs. The program prepares students for a range of roles involving digital technologies. All degree programs at our UAS include complementary competence studies that allow you to broaden and personalize your expertise. You can choose complementary studies from your own field of study, or from other fields of study.
Structure of studies
The program is divided into common core competencies and complementary competencies. Core competence studies equip you for a range of professional roles. Complementary competence studies allow you to extend your skills and specialize in an area of your interest. Complementary competencies may consist of studies of your own field, multidisciplinary route studies, or other skills supporting professional growth. Your personal tutor teacher will support and assist you throughout your studies.

Qualification
The earned qualification is an undergraduate degree (a bachelor’s degree). After earning the degree, you can apply for work in private-sector businesses as well as public-sector organizations that require an applicable university degree.
More about the language of instruction
The program is taught in English. In addition, we offer you opportunities to study foreign languages. If your mother tongue is other than Finnish, you have a perfect chance to study Finnish in different ways with us.
Thesis
A bachelor’s degree includes a 15 ECTS thesis. This can be either a research-based project or a so-called functional thesis project. The aim of the thesis project is to broaden and deepen your professional expertise and provide you with the expertise needed to operate in development tasks in your field. The thesis project improves your information retrieval and problem-solving skills.
The thesis can be conducted as a project commissioned by an external organization or as part of a development project. The thesis project can be carried out individually, in pairs, or in a group, including a written report. At its best, the thesis project can serve as a pathway to your career.

Objectives
Upon successful completion of this program, you will have a comprehensive understanding of future-oriented, innovative business operations. You will be able to automate business and implement service chains with the latest technologies while taking into account customer needs. You will have a command of agile and flexible methods and the ability to organize and lead projects based on analyzed information. The program also gives you the expertise needed to work as an entrepreneur.
