Introduction

Political science is the study of government and the governing process. It teaches how to analyze and respond to dynamic events and players in the broader political landscape.

The political science major at Ouachita:

Is only 27 hours, enabling most students to add a second major (e.g., history, communication, business, or virtually any other major).

Presents a breadth of knowledge, allowing students to sample courses in American politics and public law, international and comparative politics, and political theory.

Hones students' writing and public speaking skills and challenges them to think critically about ideas and issues that impact them and the world around them.

Provides enrichment and experiential learning through its Model United Nations Simulation and Washington Seminar courses.

Prepares students for exciting and rewarding careers in law, government service, international organizations, interest groups, journalism, and business.
