Introduction

Power engineering technology (PET) was established in the academic year of 2010/2011. The program aims toward a specialized engineer in the field of electrical power engineering and renewable systems to provide the market with graduates having high academic and technical abilities to handle different situations, problems, serve their societies and save the environment. Above all, a new master program in electrical power engineering will start at the beginning of the academic year 2015/2016 to open new scientific research opportunities in the field of electrical and renewable systems.

The distinction for this program is the combination of the conventional methods for energy generation (coal, diesel, gas ….) and the modern renewable systems such as photovoltaic (PV) systems and wind turbines to reduce the pollution (CO2) and the negative environmental effects of the conventional methods.

Programs Objectives

  • To provide the Palestinian power sector with engineers who have a strong scientific background, and with needed skills and ability to maintain services of power systems.
  • Preparation of properly trained human resources in areas renewable energy, electrical power quality, SCADA, and power systems, with particular emphasis on quality programs.
  • Expansion of graduate studies, and support of scientific research and professional studies either locally or globally.
  • Development of student personality and professional ethics via a balanced program of extracurricular activities envisaged to form an integral part of student life on campus.
