Introduction
The Unicastelo is a higher education institution whose history dates back to the eventful year 1968 when students from around the world manifested by changes in education and society. It was the year of the Prague Spring, the barricades of Paris and the Battle of Maria Antonia was born the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters. Since then, the Unicastelo keeps permanent connection to the continuous advances of global education, which is expressed in its Institutional Development Plan for the period 2006-2015.
In over 40 years devoted to higher education, the Unicastelo already graduated more than 30,000 students in its three campuses and met thousands of people in the various extension projects it supports. The institution seeks to democratize access to the academic world as well as vocational training in high quality standards, among other provisions that allow us to offer advanced education needed to prepare competent and ethical professionals for the labor market.
Based on the pioneering courses '60s and' 70s, Education, Arts and Social Studies, the Unicastelo welcomes today on campus headquarters of São Paulo, dozens of online courses to their teaching, research and extension, articulated in the production and dissemination of knowledge as well as the increase in regional and national economies. The Fernandópolis campus offers undergraduate programs that contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The same is true on the campus of Descalvado was opened in 2000, offering courses focused on quality of vocational training and development of local communities.
The pedagogical foundations of Unicastelo are cemented in trend initiated in Basic Education in 1964 with the Liceu Camilo Castelo Branco. Today, the Unicastelo exudes codes of modernity and contemporary adds enough value to support and enrich curricula of students and teachers.
During his educational saga, the university consolidated in 1971, the creation of the faculty of Economics, Accounting and Business Administration and Physical Education. The course of Business Administration was born a year later. The first courses, authorized in 1971, were recognized during 1974 and Business Administration in 1975. The expansion of course offerings increased so much that at the end of the 80s, the institution already had 24 graduate courses. Not by chance, in 1989, won accreditation as a university through Ordinance 374 of the Ministry of Education.
In May 2005, the Board introduced a new Unicastelo triggering, from then on, the process of adaptation to the university Bridge Decree, published in the Federal Official Gazette on 05/10/06. In 2006, held the first meeting of its Superior Councils CONSUN (University Council) and CONSEPE (Board of Education and Research), organs collegiate members of senior management of the university, whose effective functioning suits actual statutes of the university, its PPI (Institutional Education Programme) and its PDI (Institutional Development Plan), required, by law, for the accreditation of any educational institution with the Ministry of Education and vital tools for the planning and growth of the University.
Finally, register the Unicastelo was the first university in the country to file such regulatory documents, already adjusted to the new demands of the MEC.
