School of Science and Engineering - Through our teaching and research, we bring together subjects in Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to address global societal challenges and develop life-changing technologies.
We do this as a community of students, staff, alumni, and friends. We know we might not change the world alone, but by working together and combining our potential we can solve big problems. We recognize the strength in disciplines – science, medicine, art & design, humanities, engineering, social sciences – but also in the greater strength of combined excellence. We do it based on our core beliefs of fairness, equality, and the advancement and application of knowledge that were established when we were founded over 100 years ago. Mary Ann Baxter, whose donation helped establish what was then University College Dundee, said we should be an institution "promoting the education of persons of both sexes, and the study of science, literature, and the fine arts”.
