Introduction

Bachelor of Business

Bachelor of Business is a new qualification and will be available from 2018

If you’re a trailblazer who wants to help drive the changes needed for businesses to thrive in the 21st century, the Bachelor of Business (BBus) will help you achieve your goals.

The Bachelor of Business is aimed at those looking for a dynamic career that will put them at the forefront of strategic and technological changes within the business world.

This three-year degree will equip you with general skills in business and management, as well as specialist knowledge about one or more of New Zealand’s high-growth export sectors:

  • Agribusiness
  • Digital Business
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Tourism and Hospitality

As a BBus student, you’ll gain valuable insights into why companies must be agile and future-focused to succeed in today's global marketplace; how to make an organisation more efficient and profitable, and what's involved in managing international supply chains.

You'll be introduced to disruptive digital technologies – such as big data and cloud computing – that are transforming the nature of business operations.

Through practical assignments and case studies, you'll learn how to bring new products to market, manage business projects in collaboration with others, and apply your critical and creative thinking to find solutions for business problems.

In third year, you'll put your learning into practice by developing a business plan for a new commercial or not-for-profit start-up venture.

Waikato University is the ideal place to become an expert in these fields – we are located in New Zealand’s export-driven agricultural heartland, with two inland ports and a seaport right on our doorstep. The region is also home to a growing cluster of biotechnology, aviation, manufacturing and logistics companies. And we're close to the tourism hotspots of Rotorua, Tauranga, Waitomo and Auckland.

Waikato has an international reputation

You'll be studying at Waikato Management School, which is ranked in the top 1% of business schools globally, having achieved Triple Crown Accreditation from EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB in 2005. This is a global benchmark of excellence in teaching and research.

Waikato is also ranked in the world's top 150 universities for the teaching of Business & Management Studies, Accounting and Finance by the prestigious QS Subject Rankings.
